'We started off by looking at circles in art and asking the questions what do you notice?, what do you see? How do you see it? What is different and what is the same in the different pictures?
Wow bomb.. I actually got what was in the children's heads and, was able to instantly deal with any misconceptions straight away.
We use Tapestry so they are also doing circle hunts at home and parents are posting these pictures ready for our learning next week.
I have taught the properties of a circle. What makes a circle a circle? I demonstrated this with the nail attached to a piece of wood and used string.

'Our ”Mini-Me’s” went sledging today!
The children had so much fun! And towards the end of our session, they started to predict whether their shape sledge would slide or roll. It was a fantastic way to start them exploring the properties of shapes. Some of the boys enjoyed the activity so much that they continued when we went outside, first rolling and sliding the shapes down the bridge, then themselves. Really fantastic engagement, especially from the boys who have English as a second language or have speech difficulties'
